Things to Do Within Havertown

The summer is the perfect time to visit the Historic Grange Estate, located at 143 Myrtle Ave, Havertown PA. There are tours every Sunday of the summer, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Admission is $5.00 for adults, and $1.00 for children ages 5-12. The Grange also has gardens that people may visit. It is a quick and easy activity for a family to visit on the weekends.
Haverford Township offers field trips for students aged Kindergarten to 5th grade. They take place at Freedom Playground in the Reserve. There are different types of field trips dedicated to different age groups, with topics ranging from soil, watersheds, flora, and animals. They range from an hour to an hour and a half. They cost $7 per student, and chaperones can go for free.
There are many parks around Havertown, and some creeks that people can go into. Merry Place Park, located at 600 Glendale Road, Havertown, PA, has a trail, and water that people can go into. Hersheypark also has the Boardwalk at Hersheypark, which is the perfect place to cool off, and has 15 water rides. Knoebels Amusement Resort is located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, and has 60 rides for people of all ages to enjoy. They are organized into four categories, coaster, family, kiddie, and thrill. Knoebels is two and a half hours from Havertown, so it’s a great place for weekend trips. It also has a campground, cottages, and a bed & breakfast. Knoebels has a pool, four big slides, and a kiddie play area with water fountains all around. It is a delightful place to spend a weekend. Finally, there is a golf course, which is less than ½ a mile from the resort, where families can enjoy a full round of golf. Dutch Wonderland is directed towards families with small children, and has 32 rides. It also has a water play area for children, with cabanas that can be rented for the day. From Havertown, it is an hour and half away, which is good for a day trip. Sesame Place is a theme park based on Sesame Street, and it is directed towards young children. It is a 45 minute drive from Havertown, which is perfect for a day trip.
A great day trip for families is to Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square. It is a public garden, that is over 1,100 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows. There are countless gardens to walk through, and they are organized into separate districts. The districts include the Chimes Tower, Conservatory, House & Theater, Lakes, Main Fountain Garden, and Meadow & Forest. There are also countless events throughout the summer, including concerts, fountain displays, and plant displays. It is a stunning garden, and there are events that are catered towards families with children. There is a 30 minute nature walk designed for families, and there are workshops with various topics about nature, including bees. There are also community read sessions and virtual Longwood Garden puzzles. There are food options as well, including the Cafe, Beer Garden, and 1906. Longwood’s hours for the summer are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10:00AM to 6:00PM, closed Tuesday, and Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 10:00AM to 10:00PM. Tickets for general admission during the week for adults are $32, seniors are $28, and children (5 to 18) are $17. On the weekends, adults’ tickets are $35, seniors’ tickets are $31, and youth tickets are $20.
