Other Options for the weekend
Attend the Devon Horse Show!
The Devon Horse Show is America’s oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed horse competition. The fair raises money for Bryn Mawr Hospital. The horse show hosts many family-friendly activities, including a fair that includes a Ferris wheel, a carousel, other rides, and carnival games. There is also an art gallery, and plenty of food around the grounds. Continuing, there are plenty of boutiques to shop at that sell a variety of goods. Additionally, all military personnel, first responders, and their families are given free admission on Memorial Day.
23 Dorset Road, Devon
Host BBQs and picnics. Barbeques are a perfect event for the long weekend, and are an American classic get-together. BBQs come in many ways, whether it be potluck style, hot dogs and burgers, ribs, or anything you want! They are a great way to hang out with friends and family for an afternoon or evening. Picnics can be a huge get-together, or just small things with the family. Havertown, and Delaware County overall has many places for great picnics, or picnics can simply be at home.
Go for a nature walk. The extended weekend is a great time to go to Valley Forge National Park and go for a long walk through the historical grounds. On the park’s land, there is the National Memorial Arch, which is dedicated to the Continental Army. There is many other places to walk, including Haverford College trail, Darby Creek Trail, the Haverford Reserve, and Okehocking Preserve. Nature walks are a great way to get some fitness in, and each trail is beautiful in its own way. Some trails allow pets as well, so Delaware County residents can bring their pets, which can be a great way to get the whole family together.
