Happy Labor Day 2026!

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Penn Construction & Design! Here are a few ideas to enjoy the last long weekend of summer!

Have a picnic or barbecue. The weather is still warm, and hosting a picnic or barbecue is a great way to spend time with friends and family! With Monday off for Labor Day, it’s  smart to have one on Sunday and then spend Monday relaxing. Backyard picnics can be very casual, but good food and quality time is the best plan for the weekend.

Visit a Museum. There are plenty of Museums that families can visit this weekend, from the National Constitution Center, the Art Museum, or the Betsey Ross House. With the extra time, it’s the perfect time to go to a museum you have been meaning to go to.

Go for a Nature Walk. Around Havertown there are plenty of parks to walk through and enjoy. Haverford College has an incredible 2 mile loop, and free parking. Nature is a perfect casual loop, and there are places to rest along the way. The Wissahickon Trail is 12.6 miles, and allows for bike rides or horseback riding. There’s also picnic tables, it’s dog-friendly, and hiking! It’s great for whatever you truly want to do! Ridley State Creek park is also a great walk, with restrooms and plenty of spots to stop and relax. It’s a beautiful, well-maintained state park.

Prep Your Home for fall. The three day weekend is the perfect time to clean out your closet or air out your home! The weather will be cooler, so getting cool air into the home can help your home feel even cleaner. Cleaning out your pantry, fridge, and cabinets is a great time to make sure you know everything you have, so you don’t waste any food.

Sesame Place! If you have younger children, Sesame Place is doing fireworks on September 6th, with Cookie Monster and Elmo. It’s a perfect place for young families, and it’s a great way to spend Sunday. Sesame Place is located at 100 Sesame Rd, Langhorne, PA, which is a bit further away from Havertown, but absolutely worth the commute there for the memories.

Longwood Gardens. It’s a beautiful estate formerly owned by the DuPont family, and now is a great place to visit. It’s stunning, and on September 6th, there will be a fireworks show with music from David Bowie synched up. It’ll be a perfect plan for families who love nature and love gardens.
