The Fourth of July is one of America’s favorite holidays for a reason. It falls in the heart of summer, brings people together, and offers the perfect excuse to slow down and enjoy a day filled with food, fun, and fireworks. Whether you’re planning a lively party, a family gathering, or a quiet day outdoors, there are countless ways to make Independence Day memorable.
Having a barbecue is perfect for Fourth of July. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and watermelon are classic choices, and inviting friends and family over are a great idea for a casual yet fun way to celebrate July 4th! You can also create fun activity stations, such as a make-your-own-s’mores bar or a backyard game area with cornhole, giant Jenga, and other lawn games.
Watch the World Cup. The World Cup is happening throughout Canada, the USA, and Mexico. Here in Philadelphia, there will be a game on July 4th. Even if you cannot get tickets, watching the game is a great idea! The teams aren’t known yet, but the game will be at 5 PM at Lincoln Financial Field. It’s a perfect pre-fireworks idea for families as you watch from home!
Go into Philadelphia. Philadelphia has plenty of events going on, including free museums and various concerts. As the birthplace of the country, there is plenty to see and do!
Go watch fireworks. There are plenty of fireworks around Havertown, PA. Here are some of the fireworks scheduled!
- Narberth Fireworks at Narberth Park, located at 80 Windsor Ave, Narberth, PA 19072. It is an all-day event, culminating in fireworks at 9 PM.
- Rose Tree Park
- Radnor Township America250 Spectacular, at Radnor High School. Doors will open at 6:30pm and fireworks will commence at dusk
- July 4, 3-10 p.m, Heuser Park, King of Prussia. Concert will begin at 5:30, and fireworks will be at dusk
Cool off! Fourth of July is in the heart of summer, and is always hot. A great idea is to get a sprinkler or a small pool just to cool off a little bit! They are perfect for a yard, and can provide entertainment to kids, even for a while.
Create a scavenger hunt! It’s a great idea for kids of all ages, as many kids are competitive and can be a ton of fun. It could be themed around the holiday, which can provide for fun learning on a holiday.
There is no single right way to spend the Fourth of July. Whether you’re grilling in the backyard, watching fireworks with friends, or simply relaxing with family, the best celebrations are the ones that bring people together and make the most of summer’s most festive holiday.
