Get Your Home Ready For Fall!

As the seasons change, it is the perfect time to het your home ready for fall, in the soon-ending warm days of summer. Getting your home ready will help reduce anxiety in the fall with winds, branches, and leaves everywhere!

Firstly, make sure your windows and doors are properly sealed. It is much easier to replace the sealing when it is a quick solution to a minor problem, rather than when it is cold out and you are stuck fixing the problem in a panic. Additionally, it helps to save money, as your heating will remain indoors, rather than letting it leave your home.

Checking on your furnace is also a great idea. Checking early means that if there is actually a major issue, it can get fixed while not being a necessity. It can alleviate any household strains before everyone is stuck in the cold, while it is chilly or cold out. Additionally, completely empty and close off any outdoor faucets or hoses. If they are left open, it can cause serious issues. Turn them off from both the indoors and the outdoors.

Another essential thing that should be done is to clean out your gutters. Fall brings much more debris being able to get in your gutters, and clog them, which can lead to bigger issues. Having the gutters as clean as possible before the season begins can help to minimize any further issues as the weather gets colder. Also, cut down any branches that could fall on your home, or could cause later issues.

While you are prepping the outside, it’s important to seal any cracks in your driveway or porch. If water gets within the concrete, it will freeze and later expand, which can cost serious money later down the line. Spending a few hours now is worth the countless hours later down the road.
